How to be an idiot… And still make it

Most people never get good at anything in life.

Some of them quit before any knowledge would find it’s way into their head, some of them never apply what they “learn”, and some of them don’t even try to get good because… well… why try?

The reason for this is pretty simple.

They are idiots.

Well… We all are idiots when we start something new.

But there’s a distinct difference between the people who get nowhere and the people who manage to crawl some distance.

When they start out, both parties are idiots.

They know nothing.

And here’s the thing… One of them will act like an idiot, all clueless, touching the hot stove only to find that it burns the shit out of their finger.

The other one will be different…

They will walk around with their chest out and noses high, thinking and acting like they know everything… just to compensate for the lack of knowledge they have.

Who do you think will get further in this mess called life?

I’m betting my money on the idiot.

No, not an idiot that acts like a genius.

I’m talking about the idiot who acts like an idiot.

But that’s the reason he is doing shit only clueless people do… to find out what happens… ultimately learn from it… get better… and do this on repeat.

There’s even a quote:

“The key to knowing things is to approach things like a curious idiot would, rather than a know-it-all genius”

Note the word “curious”.

Not just because of this quote, but because of all the good things that come from simply following your own curiosity.

Yes, it will make you do dumb shit.

But likely good things will turn out from it.

And even if those things won’t necessarily include money, fame and influence… if you think about it… Following your curiosity means that you are doing something you love and want to do more of.

In the end, at least you would learn something new…

While having fun.

Isn’t that good enough?
