the machine gunner vs. the sniper

If you’re still sending 100s of DMs a day to get clients…

Keep reading because I will tell you a way better strategy for cold DMs.

I was a machine gunner for the longest time.

What does that mean?

Well, I heard the advice that if you want clients you should be sending as many DMs as possible.

I took that as it was my own and sent a bunch of DMs.

But I barely got any results.

And that’s the problem with the machine gunner.

The accuracy is ass.

Yes, you can send a shit ton of DMs.

But you will barely hit any people.

And only when I started sniping I got more replies.

Sniping is basically the opposite.

You don’t send as many DMs, maybe 10-20 a day.

But those are a hell of an accurate shots.

They strike bullseye and people instantly reply.

So how to send sniper DMs?

Easy.

1/ Pick your target

Make sure that they need your service.

So you don’t accidentally pitch yourself as a copywriter to a copywriter…

2/ Stalk

Look at what they are doing right and wrong.

Look a bit at their product.

Just do a bit of research.

3/ Strike

Send them a personalized message.

Usually, I do it this way:

  • Address what they did right and compliment them

  • What they did wrong, and how I could help them

  • Proof

That’s it.

Although there are some things to look out for:

Try not to offend them when addressing what they did wrong.

If you have proof send it to them.

If you don’t have proof, work for free.

And if you are wondering why you need to work free, well this is why:

They take a risk when you work for them for free.

You need to lower that risk by overdelivering.

‘Till next time
